Butterflied Grilled Chicken with a Chile-Lime Rub

A quick and efficient way to cook a whole bird on the grill is to butterfly it. This method is so popular, especially in Southern California, that large chains have thrived selling chile-rubbed butterflied chicken to happy patrons. When cooking a whole chicken on the grill, try searing the chicken first over direct heat then finish cooking over indirect heat (as instructed in this recipe). That way you avoid the all too common problem when grilling—chicken burned on the outside and raw in the center. For best flavor, let the chicken marinate in the rub overnight in the refrigerator. Serve with lime wedges and fresh salsa.

6 servings – Active Time: 30 minutes – Total Time: 1 hour 25 minutes (plus 12-24 hours marinating time)

Ingredients

3 tablespoons chile powder, preferably New Mexico chile, or Hungarian paprika
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons freshly grated lime zest
3 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano, preferably Mexican
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Pinch of ground cinnamon
1 3 1/2- to 4-pound chicken

Preparation

Combine chile powder (or paprika) and oil in a small bowl with lime zest and juice, garlic, coriander, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper and cinnamon to form a wet paste.
Using kitchen shears, cut the chicken down one side of the backbone, through the ribs. Make an identical cut on the opposite side to remove the backbone completely; discard (or reserve it for stock). Place the chicken cut-side down and flatten with the heel of your hand. Generously smear the spice rub under and over the skin and on the interior of the bird. Place in a nonreactive baking dish (see Tip). Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or up to 24 hours.
Preheat half the grill to medium-high (or build a medium-high heat fire on one side of a charcoal grill); leave the other half unheated. Have a squirt bottle of water ready by the grill.
Leave all the spice rub on the chicken. Place the chicken skin-side down over the heat and grill until the skin begins to color and char marks form, about 5 minutes. (Extinguish any flare-ups with the squirt bottle.) Flip over and grill 5 minutes more. Move the chicken to the unheated side. Close the lid and cook, making sure the chicken is flat against the grate, until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of a thigh without touching bone registers 165°F, 30 to 40 minutes. Transfer to a platter and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes before carving.

Tips & Notes

Kitchen Tip: A nonreactive bowl or pan—stainless-steel, enamel-coated or glass—is necessary when cooking with acidic foods, such as lemon, to prevent the food from reacting with the pan. Reactive pans, such as aluminum and cast-iron, can impart an off color and/or off flavor.

Nutrition

Per serving (without skin): 214 calories; 9 g fat ( 2 g sat , 5 g mono ); 88 mg cholesterol; 4 g carbohydrates; 0 g added sugars; 28 g protein; 2 g fiber; 422 mg sodium; 417 mg potassium.

Nutrition Bonus: Vitamin A (25% daily value)

Carbohydrate Servings: 0

Exchanges: 4 lean meat, 1 fat

ENJOY these great diabetic diet recipes!!

Nowadays 75% of the world’s women are suffering from Diabetes. It is observed that women with diabetes are prone to various complications like sexual and hormonal disorders. Many of you may have heard of Gestational Diabetes in the days of your pregnancy. Let’s learn more about Gestational Diabetes in the following article.

What is Gestational Diabetes?

Gestational Diabetes, earlier known as Gestational Diabetes mellitus is the diabetes that happens during pregnancy. Only a pregnant woman gets GDM. A pregnant woman with no diabetes background can also have gestational diabetes during onset of her pregnancy.

In normal conditions your body is able to break down sugar easily with the help of hormones in intestine. But if it’s gestational diabetes then, intestine and stomach are unable to digest sugar molecule called glucose. Glucose is the major source of energy in our body. Pancreas excrete “Insulin” which helps in taking out extra sugar from your blood. Diabetes is nothing but high blood sugar disorder.

Gestational diabetes happens when body doesn’t produce proper amount of insulin or if cells don’t utilize it properly.

Nearly 5% of world’s pregnant women get gestational diabetes. Usually women suffer from 3 kinds of diabetes: Type1, Type2, and Gestational diabetes.

Scientific research says that woman infected with gestational diabetes during the pregnancy usually gets a relive from the problem after delivery. But those women who already have type1 or type2 diabetes before pregnancy need special attention and cannot be cured with medications. The major reason of gestational diabetes is obesity and wrong eating habits as well.

What are the top 5 symptoms of gestational diabetes?

<img src="http://diabetesmellitussymptoms.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/gestational-diabetes1-215x300.jpg" alt="gestational diabetes"title="gestational diabetes" width="215" height="300" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-113" />It is very essential to pay attention to gestational diabetes symptoms during pregnancy. Following are the top 5 gestational diabetes symptoms:

•	Weight loss: Women with Gestational diabetes can suffer sudden weight loss. This kind of sudden weight loss can make the woman prone to other diseases as well.

•	Vague vision: Unexpected Blurred vision is one of the gestational diabetes symptoms during pregnancy. High sugar levels in the blood effects the eyesight directly.

•	Frequent Urinating affinity: During pregnancy tendency of frequent urination is another gestational diabetes symptom. You should always follow a strict gestational diabetes diet in case you have Type1 or Type2 diabetes already.

• Thirst and hunger: In spite of large meals a gestational diabetic woman feels hunger often. Moreover if your gestational diabetic then you should drink at least 8 glasses of water every day to keep your body hydrated.

•	Exasperation and irritation: It is also one of the gestational diabetes symptoms. So beware because crankiness can lead to this deadly problem.

So, if you think you are suffering from any of the above symptoms during pregnancy then it is better to consult your gynecologist as soon as possible to protect yourself from fatal gestational diabetes.

Being an adult, diabetes is a thing which will sneak up done to you without having warning. Well, this is not quite true — there are actually definite signals for adult-onset diabetes, but you are often ignored or mistaken for other activities. Since diabetes can be a serious disease, it is critical to recognize these signs early so as to minimize health issues along with complications. This is also true of overweight adults, who definitely are completely in danger of diabetes.

The classic warning signs of adult diabetes are frequent urination and constant thirst. The thirst is truly a side-effect with the urination, since person’s body is looking to prevent dehydration. Frequent or excessive urination is specially an indication of diabetes insipidus, a sort of diabetes that is certainly hormonal naturally, unlike greater common diabetes, which happens to be as a result of abnormal degrees of insulin and/or effectiveness against insulin’s effects.

Blurred eyesight is certainly one sign it is best to take seriously, simply because it often occurs after very long periods with elevated sugar levels. Many adults will ignore this symptom, ascribing it to fatigue or perhaps the link between aging. A vacation to the optometrist needs to be scheduled as soon as possible to figure out when the blurred vision is actually as a result of adult-onset diabetes or other health issue.

In the USA, there are more than 2000 people daily who find out that they have diabetes. Type II diabetes is most common, and its symptoms are often few or absent.

Glucose is one of the many products of food digestion, and this sugar is carried by the blood to the cells of your body. Insulin, which is produced by the pancreas, converts glucose to usable energy.

The liver, muscle, and fat cells of people with type II diabetes can’t use insulin properly, and so will have trouble changing food to energy. This will later cause the pancreas to be unable to make enough insulin for the body. The amount of glucose in the body increases, and the cells are starved of energy.

This starvation of the cells, paired with the high blood glucose level can damage nerves and blood vessels. This will lead to kidney disease, nerve problems, blindness, and heart problems.

There are a lot of factors that can help to attribute to diabetes cases, lifestyle, environment, heredity, and those who are at risk should be screened regularly to prevent diabetes. Those that are already diagnosed with diabetes should aim to keep their glucose level under control.

But how will you know if you have this condition? Some patients show only few or no symptoms. Key symptoms include excessive thirst or hunger, a change in weight, and blurred vision, and having yourself tested for type II diabetes is needed.

Keeping your blood sugar levels under control can involve quite simple changes in eating habits and weight management. But your doctor can prescribe you some diabetes-regulating medications to make it easier for you.

Diabetes is a serious ailment with extreme consequences if it isn’t treated properly. But if you follow your doctor’s advice and maintain both your lifestyle and blood sugar levels, you can help to prevent the more serious consequences from occurring.

This article is for information purposes only and is not meant to treat, diagnose or prevent any ailment or disease. You should visit your physician for proper care.

Usually sold by the name of Glucophage, metformin is an oral anti-diabetic drug. It helps controlling sugar levels of people suffering from type-2 diabetes and usually used with a combination of insulin. But for a patient of type 1 diabetes, it’s not the remedy.

For years, this drug has been used for diabetes as well as for the fact that it helps losing weight. Since weight loss is something people are very much fond of, metformin weight loss is getting its share of popularity. This drug has been prescribed quite often by obesity specialists whose target is to aid weight loss. However, there are a few side effects related to this drug. Therefore, an advantage of this drug is that it aids diabetics in controlling their weight gain.

However, only because it is popular does not mean it comes without any side effects. Here are some of the most important metformin side effects. Before getting any kinds of X-rays or CT scans that involve a dye being injected intravenously, you will be asked to stop using this drug for a short period of time. Also, if you have diabetic ketoacidosis, consult your doctor first before taking it.Do not take this drug if you’re allergic to Metformin, of course. As a reaction to this drug, a small number of people are at the risk of developing lactic acidosis. It happens in rare cases but when it happens, it makes the situation troublesome. These symptoms include: breathlessness, stomachaches, slow heart rate, an uneven pulse, nausea with vomiting, muscle pain, weakness, numbness, a cold chill running through your limbs and dizziness. You should immediately seek medical help at even the slightest sign of any of these symptoms developing.

It is seriously prescribed to urgently see the doctor if the usage of this drug causes muscle pain or weakness, breathing trouble or uneven heart beat, numb or cold feeling in the body, dizziness or nausea, stomach pain etc. Metaformin can rarely lead to the formation of a condition, namely “lactic acidosis”. It might not seem very serious at the beginning but over time, it gets bad.

Usage of Metformin while being pregnant is not yet proved to be harmful but to be on the safe side talking to a doctor before getting pregnant is better. Especially if you’ve had a heart disease at any point in time or a liver problem as well. Therefore, it is not advisable to take it without first consulting with a doctor. Metformin is not proved properly to be harmful for a baby, yet being careful is necessary. It’s better to not take it without talking to your doctor in the first place, specifically if you’re a breast feeding mother. Last but not the least, a child less than 10 years old must not be given Metformin.

Sure, when there is a specific kind of diet you can indulge in when you have diabetes. You can find details of those on any website that provides information on what diabetes entails. Memorize them, and adhere strictly.

Some foods you eat a lot more of, and others you simply don’t touch once you have been diagnosed with diabetes. The doctor will take the time to run you through them at the same time as you are given your prescription medication. Do not forget them.

Your life does not end simply because you got diagnosed with diabetes. The living is different, particularly with the new diet, but even you could do that with little trouble. Just get the new protein filled foods and begin cooking and eating them with the same glee you once used to enjoy all those carbohydrates. Diet pills

A diabetes diet is mostly bye-bye to high-calorie and low-protein foods, and welcome to the opposite. You may have thought it was that bad, but really it isn’t. You can love it too.

Your feeding as a diabetic does not have to be short on flavor, it just has to be a lot smart. You can work with the doctor’s list, or you can be creative on your own. All you need to remember is that you have to watch the calories and the sugar, and you have to step up on the proteins and vitamins. Buy phen375

You do need sugar in your system, even as a diabetic; however you want to be sure it is not excessive. Look for foods that help in the production or processing of the insulin hormone. It should help well enough.

You need a regulation of sugar intake in your diabetes diet. Don’t take the raw types, but the type that is cleverly embedded in your food so that the glucose can get into your blood. That should be safe enough. I do suggest that you pick up the proteins, though.

You need to get creative, Friend. Diabetes implies that you may not eat just anything, but if you can think through the haze of consternation at the life you now have to live, you can convert every meal into a feast by just putting them together beautifully. Think on that for a minute, will you? Does Phen375 really work

The food you have to be eating when you suffer from diabetes is not exactly bad; it’s just something that you are not used to. What you need to work on is getting your system and your tastes adjusted to it. The sugar simply has to be less, and the proteins more.

There are ways, you know. When you suffer from diabetes and need to alter your diets, there are ways you can make the sentence endurable. Pick your foods wisely, without ever neglecting the doctor’s orders. Take your time to cook every meal, and you can learn to love them.

Diabetes involves unusually high blood glucose levels. Blood sugar levels can be kept under control by insulin, which is produced by the pancreas. If the pancreas isn’t producing enough insulin, a person will develop diabetes.

A person with diabetes feels more hungry and thirsty than usual, gets tired easily, and will urinate more than usual. The tried and tested way to diagnose diabetes is through the Glucose Tolerance Test.

Of the types of diabetes, type I is more acute. It is typically treated with special dietary restrictions, exercise and occasionally with insulin. Insulin isn’t used until the diabetic individual has been put to a special diet, exercise, and weight loss plan. This type of diabetes is also known as insulin-dependent diabetes.

Type II diabetes is less severe and involves the same treatment as type I, but without the insulin. If theses measures are not successful in controlling blood sugar and insulin levels, oral medications may be added. Insulin is used in the extreme cases. Type 2 diabetes normally occurs in adults who are middle age or older, which is why it is sometimes called Late-Onset Diabetes. This condition involves a pancreas that can produce enough insulin, but the body doesn’t react well to it.

It’s very possible for an individual to delay the onset of Type II diabetes if one or more family members have the condition. Through losing weight, getting the right amount of exercise and controlling your diet, you can manage. If you leave type II diabetes untreated, it’s very likely that you’ll develop the same complications as type I diabetes.

Gestational diabetes is seen in pregnant women. This condition will usually disappear when the mother gives birth, but controlled blood sugar levels is better for both the mother and unborn baby.

Juvenile Onset Diabetes is seen in children. Many believe it to be the onset of type I diabetes. If a child has even a few symptoms of diabetes, have him checked by his doctor right away. There are an estimated two million adolescents in pre-diabetic stage. Being overweight is usually the main cause. In this condition, blood glucose levels are high but not high enough to be considered diabetes. This is most often observed in 12-19 year old teens.

Treat Your Diabetes Mellitus Symptoms Now

We have come across an exciting new solution so you can learn how to lower your blood sugar naturally and eliminate your diabetes drugs and insulin shots.

Health Expert named Matt Traverso, has recently completed his study on Diabetes Mellitus/Diabetes Mellitus Symptoms and written a tell-all report, called How To Reverse Diabetes Now! – Help Treat Your Diabetes Mellitus Symptoms.

There is new research out for people with Diabetes Mellitus… thousands of people like you have systematically and effectively reversed their condition.

And chances are, you won’t hear or read about this anywhere else, because it isn’t in the interest of pharmaceutical companies or medical professionals to inform you. “Why?” You might ask.

• If everybody knew about it, pharmaceutical companies couldn’t sell their life-long maintenance drugs anymore.

• Pharmaceutical companies and medical professionals would lose millions of dollars in profits. This is why you will only hear about this through word of mouth, or, on the Internet.

• It is terrifying for pharmaceutical companies to realize that this natural discovery, without the use of medicine, is helping people cure their Diabetes completely.

How is that possible, you ask? “I thought Diabetes couldn’t be cured?”

You’re right. At least, partially.

With traditional medicine, Diabetes Mellitus can never be cured. Traditional medicine “fights” Diabetes through drugs that treat the diabetes mellitus symptoms of the disease, but never deals with the root cause of the problem.

In fact, doctors acknowledge they have no idea WHAT causes Diabetes, they don’t know how to cure it—but here is a prescription for some drugs anyway. (sound familiar?)

Does that make sense to you? Why would you take drugs if doctors don’t know what Diabetes is, what caused it, or how to cure it? Yet, people do just that for every physical condition, such as Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Cholesterol, Arthritis, Cardio-Vascular diseases, And… Diabetes.
